The #SharpieGate Meme: A Gallery

While President Trump’s recent gaffe may be an embarrassing doubling-down on a mistake, it lit a fury of postings on Twitter, and inspired significant creativity from those on social media.

What started it of, course, was that Donald Trump falsely claimed that Hurricane Dorian was going to strike Alabama (the National Weather Service told him otherwise). Despite being proven wrong, Trump held a press conference in the Oval Office with a National Weather Service map apparently doctored with a cone shape displayed on parts of Alabama in a black marker, extending the officially projected path of the hurricane.

This gaffe was dubbed “SharpieGate”, and the SharpieGate hashtag began trending, with many internet users adding their own creative efforts to it.
