John Leguizamo Takes Us to School in New Solo Show

Celebrated actor John Leguizamo is no stranger to Broadway: he debuted his semi-autobiographical solo show “Freak” in 1998, and performed the follow-up “Ghetto Clown” in 2011. Now, Leguizamo sheds light on not just his own experience, but on Latin American culture writ large in his new one-man play “Latin History For Morons” at Studio 54. Leguizamo says the idea for the project came when he struggled to find examples of Latin American heroes for his son’s history class. The play covers such diverse topics as the Aztec Empire and the unsung Latino soldiers of the American Revolution. The play educates about diversity while entertaining the audience through a satirical lens. The show runs 95 minutes with no intermission and performs through February 25.
